JILL'S MET GALA 2015 RECAP

Last night's Met Gala theme was "China: Through the Looking Glass". What does that mean? I'm sure you're asking, so you can brush up on this year's exhibition here. And when you're done, we can chat the fashion, and how the celebrities interpreted 2015's theme.

I love the Met Gala because it's a chance for people to go all out, without being looked at twice (SJP will always out-do attendees). Some play it safe, some completely ignore the theme, and others go full force. Here are my favorites, not-so favorites, and others I just had to comment on.

Best

Bee Shaffer in Alexander McQueen: Subtly gorgeous. The intricate detail on this gown, along with the cut, are beautiful. Bee proves you can pay homage to the theme without going the Rihanna route (we'll get to her in a second).

Anne Hathaway in Ralph Lauren: So I know Anne's dress goes against everything I live for when it comes to this event (where's the drama?!), but I love its simplicity so much. Also, 76% of outfits that have a hood win me over.

Lady Gaga in custom Balenciaga: Leave it to Lady Gaga to bring it. Structurally, this dress is so interesting, and I love the crown. The low neckline keeps her from drowning in all of that fabric. She look so glam.

Rihanna in Guo Pei: Now that's how you dress for the occasion. Love it or hate it, you have to give Rihanna credit for going all in. The color looks gorgeous on her, and I love the way she makes an entrance.

Worst

Alicia Keys in Jean Paul Gaultier: A blazer and a tulle skirt? Okay.

FKA Twigs in Christopher Kane: I have to admit, I was more offended by the feet on her dress than the... um... detail of a male's anatomy above her thigh. I just don't get it.

Katy Perry in Moschino: First, I am not digging her Kris Jenner haircut. Second, I love graffiti art, but I am not into it on a gown. Katy always tries a little too hard when it comes to these things, doesn't she?

Solange Knowles in Giles Deacon: As Jess called it, she looks like she's wearing a CD. I know a lot of people liked this look, and I do appreciate the uniqueness, but it reminds me of two things that scare the crap out of me - some crazy deep sea creature that you see on National Geographic, and a black hole in space that is going to suck me up (I never cared for astronomy in college).

Dylan Lauren: Do I even have to say anything? Homegirl bedazzled her dress. And put a belt on it.

Others

Kim Kardashian West in Beyonce's bleached dress Roberto Cavalli: One of these things looks just like the other.

Miley Cyrus in Alexander Wang: This would have been great a few years ago for the punk theme. Also, I kinda wish she showed off her newly dyed pink armpit hair. Yep, you read that right.

Brie Larson, Courtney Eaton, and Annabelle Wallis in Dolce & Gabbana: I actually stopped to admire their outfits because I thought they were all gorgeous, and then felt like they were some weird triplet group. Then I went back to admiring their outfits. How pretty is that gold?

Who were your favorites last night?

x Jill
