WINDY CITY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY AND LOWE'S BLOCK BUILD

A few weeks ago, I stopped by the recent Block Build in Chicago, held by Lowe's and Windy City Habitat for Humanity. If you're unfamiliar with Habitat for Humanity, they're a non-profit housing ministry that builds homes for those in need. Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity is global and has helped provide shelter for 3 million people. At Block Builds, they team up with volunteers to tackle serious home repairs in a neighborhood, helping many families in a big way. It was extremely inspiring to see all of these volunteers come out (even in the rain and cold!) to help extremely grateful people.

Elizabeth from Windy City Habitat for Humanity took some time out of her day to take me on a tour of the neighborhood, and the work they were doing!

I loved the tree-lined street and the unique character in each home.

I also got to check out the new housing being built on the block. How nice are these houses?

You can learn more about Windy City Habitat for Humanity, and even volunteer with them, by checking out their website.

GO FOR THE ROSE GOLD

Ever since I got my rose gold engagement ring, I have been obsessed with blush-hued jewelry. I've never been one to wear anything pink besides an occasional nail polish, but with my paleness and red undertones, yellow gold is very harsh on my skin, unlike rose gold. Consider me converted! And with any obsession, I've been doing quite a bit of online browsing and have found a few rose gold favorites that I can't wait to wear as everyday pieces.

FAVORITO FRIDAY: 3FLOZ

We both do our share of traveling (as seen here), and the hardest part of packing is always dealing with TSA's restrictions on liquids. For those quick weekend trips or stand-by flights, I try to do carry-on as often as I can. Problem is, how do I really pack all of my beauty and makeup products when I have to fit them all in that tiny quart-sized bag?! Since everything has to be be less than three ounces, I have a million (rough estimate) of those unlabeled plastic containers in my bathroom drawers, but now I can finally stop trying to figure out what is in what bottle, thanks to 3FLOZ!

3FLOZ offers travel size products for a variety of brands and products - forget settling for what's at your local drugstore. Shop brands from Bliss to H2O Plus, and products for your hair to your skin. Ah, finally, packing is now a breeze! Find my favorite products available online at 3FLOZ and at select airports, below! PS. They even have a replenishment program for those busy travelers.

What are your must have products when you travel?

JILL IN STYLE ME PRETTY

A few months ago, I was asked to participate in a photoshoot for a wedding theme. Coming off the high of being engaged (and loving any type of photo shoot), I of course said yes, only this time I was in front of the camera... ahhh!

You can imagine my excitement when I saw it all on Style Me Pretty yesterday!

As you can tell from the photos, all the vendors on the shoot were dreamy. Created by Ashley of La Belle Fleur Events, we got to wear gowns by Mignonette Bridal, hold flowers from Life in Bloom, relax in furniture from Rent Vintage Chicago, all while being pampered by Nika Vaughan Bridal Artists at Room 1520. And Katie Kett did such a great job photographing all of the beauty.

Here is just a glimpse of the amazing-ness Ashley put together!

OSCAR DE LA RENTA

"There is always an emotional element to anything that you make."

We were deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Oscar de la Renta. A true legend and talented gentleman, his designs complimented every woman who wore his work. And being that Jill's wedding gown is from the designer, we wanted to make a post celebrating his gorgeous creations. From celebrities to brides, and even first ladies, there was not one type of person who wasn't drawn to his art. We've compiled a list of some of our favorite Oscar de la Renta pieces to take you on a mini journey.

DRESSY SWEATSHIRTS

Move over, "beauty is pain"... It's time to bust out that comfy sweatshirt and dress it up!

I'm all for things comfortable when it comes to my outfits and the weather lately in Chicago has only made it more perfect to layer that sweater and step out the door. Sweatshirts aren't just for your alma mater or trips to the supermarket anymore - from jeweled to printed, leather to graphic, pullovers are the latest trend I can definitely get behind.

RUNNING A TIGHT(S) SHIP

Ahhh, fall. No more having to worry about shaving our legs when we want to wear a dress. That totally triumphs the beautiful foliage, am I right?

The tights and boots combo is my absolute favorite for the season, but pulling out my plain black pair all the time can make things boring. Plus it makes me look like a major repeat offender. That's why I've compiled a list of six tights that add a little flair to this season's favorite look!

Rose Thigh Band Tights ($20.00) - Topshop

Vince Camuto Studded Tights ($24.00) - Nordstrom

Cable Knit Tights ($9.80) - Forever 21

Block-Striped Tights ($9.95) - H&M

Alice + Olivia by Pretty Polly Writing Back Tights ($48.00) - Bloomingdale's

DKNY Ombre Tights ($18.00) - Bloomingdale's

Where do you shop for tights?

FAVORITO FRIDAY: HOT TOOLS CURLING IRON

Unless my hair is in a top knot, I never leave home without curling it. My hair is this weird combination of straight and wavy, with a little frizz here and there. The only way of controlling all that mayhem is by using the amazing Hot Tools Curling Iron. I couldn't live without it!

Hot Tools Professional Curling Iron ($25.95) - Amazon

My hairstylist taught me how to deal with my tresses using a curling iron and I haven't looked back since. It smooths my hair and makes it look consistent - something I didn't know was possible of doing myself. (Tip: Face the clamp toward the mirror and clamp onto hair in the middle of the root and tip. Curl inward toward your scalp and unclamp and pull out a bit, and curl toward your scalp again. Pull out to your tips and curl toward your scalp one last time. Hold for a couple seconds and let go.)

I use a one inch curling iron and it's the perfect tool to give you that "oh, I just woke up like this" look. I can do my waves in less than 15 minutes every time. I don't know what I would do without it!

What is your favorite hair tool?

HPNOTIQ SPARKLE PARTY #INEEDSPARKLE

Hpnotiq Sparkle

Last week, we introduced you to the new Hpnotiq Sparkle - a delicious drink that is our new fav. We highly suggest that you pick up your best friend, along with a bottle, and enjoy a girls night in. It's the perfect excuse to have a sparkle party, which for us, outside of a bottle of Hpnotiq Sparkle, would include jewelry.

Jewelry can make or break an outfit, and is the easiest thing to borrow from friends. That's why we love getting together and raiding each other's stash to mix up our own wardrobe. Not only is it cost efficient, but hello, it gives us an excuse to drink together. Some of our favorite designers that we swap from are The Limited, Nordstrom, LOFTCharming Charlie, The Left Bank and more.

And if your jewelry stash is running dry, Hpnotiq Sparkle is holding a sweepstakes where you can win $5,000 to help you sparkle all year long! Can you imagine what you can do to your closet with that money? Enter and read more details here.

Make sure you snag a bottle of Hpnotiq Sparkle from now until December... the perfect New Year's Eve drink to share with your besties. If you can't find it in a store near you, you can also mix Hpnotiq and champagne together for a yummy cocktail. You know we always got your back when it comes to alcohol.
