Chains, mesh, and sweat... oh my! Those three words pretty much sum up last night's Emmys red carpet. Seriously, how did they not all faint like
Olivia Culpo?!?! I watched most of the coverage not shaking my head at what walked down the carpet, which is usually a rarity (me watching television and not being judge-y is another rarity). Also, who knew Ryan Seacrest was now making suits? At this point, this guy will be running with Kanye West in 2020.
Anyway, on to my picks!
Best
Taraji P. Henson in Alexander Wang: If you're going to wear black on the red carpet, you better be prepared to step your game up, and Taraji totally did. I love her sleek hair and makeup and the interesting details on the lower part of the gown. Can shoulder chains be a new thing, too?
Kerry Washington in Marc Jacobs: This dress did not look half this fabulous walking down the runway. Kerry is owning this look and I'm all for it (along with Scandal being back on television this week!!!!!!!!).
Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell: I know, I know... another black dress. But come on, look at Gaga. She completely stunned in this simple yet classic number, and her body has been on point lately. I'm really loving actress Gaga, even if that means I have to wait a bit longer for another album.
Worst
Joanna Newsom in Delpozo: I think she is wearing something that Mayim Bialik grew in a petri dish.
Heidi Klum in Versace: Love the color, but unfortunately, the love stops there. It looks like this dress had a cover up and someone ripped off half of it. But then again if I had those guns, I would want to show them off as much as possible too.
Nazanin Boniadi in Stephane Rolland: It pains me to do this because I loved her on Homeland, but... really? Did she key her stylist's car to deserve this? This dress is just hanging on her. The top semi reminds me of a swan costume.
What Could Have Been
Tatiana Maslany in Bouchra Jarrar Couture: I can never pass up admiration for a woman in a well-tailored suit, but that's only when it's well-tailored. Everything is working for Tatiana, but the fit seems off. With a little nip and tuck, this could have been one of my favorites.
Elisabeth Moss in Oscar de la Renta: Elisabeth looked so gorgeous last night. I'm really diggin' the super blonde hair, red lip, and this color dress. The only thing I'd like to see is for the dress to be a little more fitted towards the bottom.
I'm now going to cry for the
10038292 time that Peggy will no longer be on my television screen.
Who were your favorites and not-so favorites last night?
